The History of the Rodeo

Rodeo as we know it today, was originated in Mexico but soon made it's way north to the United States.

The sport of rodeo evolved from an extension of the day-to-day lives of the original American cowboy. Such activities as the branding of cattle and the riding and training of young "buckin" horses can be seen in today's rodeo competitions. These such activities made their way from the "bragging rights" of a ranch cowboy, to the national arena of the PRCA.

The Professional Rodeo Cowboy Association (PRCA) is the oldest and largest sanctioning body of professional rodeo. The Arlee Western Events is proud to welcome the PRCA to Arlee, Montana and bring you events in bareback riding, steer wrestling, bronc riding, barrel racing, team roping, tie down roping and bull riding.
